Many consumers would like to do something about global warming. A significant cause of global warming is carbon dioxide or CO2 trapped in the atmosphere. The percentage of atmospheric CO2 has been increasing for decades, thanks to global industrialization, power plants and of course the dramatic increase in the number of cars on the planet. The trapped CO2 creates what is called the greenhouse effect, whereby heat is retained in the atmosphere, causing climate change, bizarre weather, crop failures, respiratory diseases and much more.

At the same time modern lifestyles require mobility. For many people the need to get to work every day, to drive kids around, or to travel by car are necessities, not luxuries. Despite the rhetoric, using public transport or riding a bicycle to work are simply not viable alternatives. Add to that the average person’s frustration with the automobile industry’s complete failure to produce and market affordable clean running cars, buses and trucks. This has left most of us puzzled as to what we can do to fight global warming.

There is a simple and elegant solution that offers a lot of benefits for the planet and at the same time will enable you to drive your car and be completely carbon neutral. The Environmental Protection Agency (“EPA”) of the United States estimates that the average car produces 12,100 lbs (5,488 kg) of carbon dioxide emissions every year, all pumped into our atmosphere and circulating around the globe. But guess what? The average tropical tree absorbs and sequesters about 50 lbs (22.6 kg) of CO2 every year. In fact, tropical trees account for 95% of all tree-based CO2 removal from the atmosphere on our planet.

Let’s do some simple math. If we divide 12,100 lbs (5,488 kg) by 50 lbs (22.6 kg) we get 242 tropical trees. Best of all, tropical trees are most effective at removing CO2 from the atmosphere during the first 10 years of their lives. The answer to making one’s car carbon neutral is therefore to fund the nursery, planting and care of 250 fast growing tropical trees for a 10 year period. That is all it takes and one’s car is guaranteed to be carbon neutral for 10 years! So what are some of the other benefits I mentioned?

The canopy effect of tropical trees actually cools the planet by an average of 0.7 degrees Celsius per year, whereas boreal forests retain heat and therefore warm the planet by 0.8 degrees Celsius every year. Rainforests and tropical trees provide habitat for numerous species of endangered wildlife. Recently, scientists have noted that tropical trees are also very good at removing other pollutants harmful to human health from our atmosphere. And of course let’s not forget why tropical trees and rainforests are called the great green lungs of our planet, because they produce much of the oxygen we breathe and depend upon.

I represent a group of tree planters who work in Central and South America, in the zones best suited for growing tropical trees that sequester CO2 from the atmosphere. For a one time price of $750 USD we will nursery, plant and care for 250 tropical trees for 10 years on your behalf, making your car carbon neutral. Or if you wish, by subscribing for $75 USD per year for 10 years, we will plant 25 tropical trees a year for 10 years, thereby also making your car carbon neutral. Whichever option you choose, consider this: the annual cost of making your car carbon neutral is the same or less than the cost of a single fill-up at the gas pumps. In addition, you will receive an annual windshield decal and a bumper sticker telling the world that you are taking effective action. Please visit us at CO2 Tropical Trees to buy or to co-market with us.
