The writers of this paper or article described the type of sentences known as meaning- equivalent sentences which carry the same main and important meaning. Then, the discussion is over the translation of these sentences. It is said that the translation of meaning- equivalent sentences corresponds to rough translation which aim not at exact translation with narrow coverage but at rough translation with wide coverage. It is also mentioned that the translation strategy here is sufficiently useful. In the next part, from an example corpus, a method explained for retrieving the meaning equivalent sentences. The retrieval includes modality, content words and tense. In the application part or method part, an experiment demonstrated the strength of the method which was explained previously. To sum up, it can be said that this example based machine translation is adequate for speech translation. It's retrieval is very good. It also has its own problems. At the end of this paper a method for retrieving meaning- equivalent sentences is proposed.
